2008: Only 13 players in the NAIA had more wins than Gomez last season...led the team in wins with a 10-5 record last season...with 10 victories he ranks second with the most wins in a season...finished second behind Josh Hester in almost every other statistical category for the Lions including innings pitched (69.2) and strikeouts (56)...the one-two punch of Hester and Gomez combined for 158.2 innings (almost half of all innings pitched)...led the team with 18 appearances...earned second team All-Conference honors...struck out 10 against Lyon College on Apr. 29, a season high...in over half his starts he only walked one or less batters...led the team with six complete games including a seven inning complete game against Lyon college where he only allowed on unearned run...in a remarkable six game stretch between March 10-29, he only allowed two earned runs whiled going 4-0 in 28.1 innings pitched.

 

JUCO: Played two seasons at Miami-Dade Community College for Head Coach Steve Hertz...was 6-2 in two seasons with a 2.16.

Personal: Son of Pedro and Ivonne Gomez...he has two brothers Gabriel and Michael...His favorite movie is For Love of The Game...his favorite team is the Boston Red Sox...his favorite major leaguer is Roger Clemens...his favorite movie quote is "Clear the mechanism."

Records and Accomplishments: 2nd Team All-Conference...Tied for 2nd in most wins in a season at 10...Ranked 10th nationally in fewest walks allowed per 9 innings (1.16)...Ranked 14th nationally in wins (10).
