2009 Baseball

2008: Senior transfer from the University of Tampa...Led the UT team to a 42-11 season...was the everyday catcher...hit .326 with 14 doubles and four homeruns...drove in 26 runs...expected to handle the everyday catching responsibilities.

 

JUCO: Started two seasons at Miami Dade College under Coach Steve Hertz...led the 2007 team to a Southern Conference Championship...was one of MDCC's leading hitters...batted .385 with five homeruns and 75 runs batted in...was awarded the 2007 MVP by his teammates.

 

High School: Prepped for Head Coach Ed Doskow at Miami South Ridge High School...was named 2nd team All-Dade County for two consecutive seasons...named 2004 team MVP...led the team in hitting with 10 homeruns...batted .396 with 93 runs driven in...2003 district champs...in 2002 MSHS were state runners up.

Personal: Son of Leonardo Alvarez...he has one sister Victoria...he is married to Jenny Alvarez and they have a daughter Natalya...Favorite movie is Good Fellas...favorite MLB player is Ivan Rodriguez and he is an avid Florida Marlins fan...Favorite Movie Quote: "Say hello to my little friend."
