MADISON, Miss. - Freed-Hardeman sophomore Travis Ross tied his own school record for a 36-hole event and set another record in the process.

Ross shot a two-day total of even-par 144 (72-72) to take low medalist honors at the Lake Caroline Collegiate Invitational, becoming the first Lion golfer on record to win a 36-hole tournament.

He set the school record for a 36-hole event in September when he shot 74-70 at the Bison Fall Invitational.

As a team, FHU posted a 311 and was three strokes off the lead after day one but could not make up any ground on the second day.  The Lions' 310 total put them in fourth place with a total of 621, 14 shots behind Millsaps (Miss.) College.

Mississippi College and Blue Mountain (Miss.) College tied for second at 614.  BMC shot the low round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 290.

Jonathan West tied for 10th place with a two-day total of 155 (76-79).  Bryant Cashion posted a 161 (82-79) while Grant James shot 163 (81-82) and Darren Bart shot 171 (91-80).

The Lions finish their fall schedule next week at the RedHawk Fall Classic at Lawrenceburg Country Club on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
