HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions used the strength of a 20-2 second-half run to pick up its second win of the season as FHU defeated Berry (Ga.) College, 70-55, in the final game of the LionBacker Classic on Saturday night.

On Friday, FHU was fueled by a 22-0 first-half run as the Lions defeated Concordia (Ala.) College, 89-56. Earlier that day, Berry upset NAIA No. 14 Lambuth (Tenn.) University, 75-70.

The Vikings struggled from the floor early in the game as Freed-Hardeman led by as many as 13 in the first half. However, as Berry began to find its shot, the Lion lead slowly dwindled down to six (34-28) at halftime.

Berry opened the second half by converting 1-of-2 from the free throw line, pulling within five points of the FHU lead. It would turn out to be the closest the Vikings would get.

Shun Trevillian and Zack Frey combined for 16 of the Lions' next 20 points that turned a tight game into a 23-point Freed-Hardeman lead with 13:05 to play. However, the Lions went cold from the floor and Berry chipped away at the deficit before closing it to 11 points at 59-48 with 6:15 to go. FHU's defense responded by limiting the Vikings to just two points over the next four minutes and a Logan Greer three-pointer from three steps behind the arc with :48 to play put an exclamation point on the Lion victory.

Frey led all scorers with 21 points as the junior post made 7-of-10 shots from the field. Greer added 13 off the bench, including four three-pointers. Shun Trevillian and Kristoffer Smith scored 12 and 10 points respectively with nine of Trevillian's coming in the midst of the 20-2 run early in the second half.

Now 2-0 on the year, FHU plays its first road game on Tuesday as the Lions travel to Brescia (Ky.) University.
