Cross, who scored 27 points in FHU's win over Missouri Valley College on Friday, was named the classic MVP.
Freed-Hardeman never trailed in the game after Tara Deatheridge opened with a 15 foot jumper. Thanks to some hot shooting out of the gate, FHU built an 18-6 lead eight minutes into the game. Tougaloo, though, stayed basket-for-basket with the Lady Lions for the remainder of the half as Freed-Hardeman carried a 43-32 advantage into the locker room.
Any thoughts Tougaloo might have had of making a second-half comeback would be quickly done away with after FHU opened with a 20-5 run in the first four minutes of the half to extend its lead to 63-37, a margin large enough to keep the Lady Bulldogs from threatening the rest of the way.
Freshman Hannah Parsley came off the bench to score 19 points as she made 3-of-4 from three-point range. Junior Chelsie Alsup, who scored a career-high 16 points on Friday, one-upped herself as she added 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and was named to the all-tournament team. Deatheridge recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
FHU, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, improves to 2-0 on the season. The Lady Lions return to action on Thursday, Nov. 13, as they play host to Belhaven (Miss.) College.
