HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman men's cross country team picked up another runner for the 2011 season with the recent signing of Christean Covington of Pelham, Ala.

was a junior olympic national qualifier in the 1500m and a cross country national qualifier in 2010.  He placed third in the Region 16 cross country championships.

Covington plans to major in Bible and has participated in mission trips to Guyana and Tanzania.

"I'm excited to add Christean to the team and excited to see how fast he can be," said FHU head coach Derrick Spradlin. "With his running ability, his experience, and his dedication to hard work, he can accomplish a lot for our team. He takes academic and religious activities as seriously as he does his running, which makes him the kind of student-athlete that we are eager to have running for Freed."
