HENDERSON, Tenn. - Freed-Hardeman University softball coaches Todd Humphry and Tarrah Tucker will be in the dugout during the first annual West Tennessee High School All-Star Classic on Wednesday, June 9, coaching one of the two squads in the event taking place at the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex in Jackson, Tenn.
Humphry and Tucker will coach the Gold team while Jackson State (Tenn.) Community College's Michael Winders and Lane (Tenn.) College's Roger Ogden will coach the Blue team. The seven-inning game will begin at 4:00 PM in Complex D at the Sportsplex.
The Gold roster includes two Freed-Hardeman signees for the 2011 season in Natalie Nelson (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) and Sarah Elizabeth Cousar (Covington, Tenn./Covington HS). Also on the Gold team is University of Tennessee signee Ellen Renfroe, whose sister Ivy helped lead the Lady Vols into the Women's College World Series.
"I'm excited about working as one of the coaches," Humphry said of the opportunity. "West Tennessee has great talent in softball which was well-represented at this year's state tournament. This is a good way for some past rivals to team up and play together for once."
Admission to the game is $5.00.
