OWENSBORO, Ky. - The offensive explosion from Friday kept going into Saturday as the Freed-Hardeman Lions completed a three-game sweep of Brescia (Ky.) University with wins of 13-3 and 14-8.

The Lions finished the series with 50 hits and 51 runs over the three games as FHU improved to 13-7 on the season.

Freed-Hardeman jumped on top early in the first game of the double-header, getting four runs in the second inning and three in the third to take a 7-2 lead.  The five-run lead would be plenty for FHU starter Hunter Newby (2-2), who went the distance while allowing no earned runs and striking out four.

Blake Taylor and Chris White, hitting in the eighth and ninth spots in the lineup, both had three hits.  Taylor had a two-run double in the second and White had a bases-clearing double in the third.  Noslen Labrada also had three hits and four RBI, while Robert Prieto and Joe Mike each collected two hits.

In the second game, the Lions used five-run innings in the third and fourth followed by a three-run fifth to open a 13-3 lead.  Brescia picked up runs in each of the last three innings but the damage was already done as FHU completed the sweep.  Mike completed his big day at the plate with three hits and four RBI.

Josh Reynolds (2-0) picked up the win, allowing three runs - one earned - over four innings of work.

Prieto hit safely in both games, extending his hitting streak to 17 games.
