HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions used runs of 12-0 and 19-3 to open up a 30 point halftime lead in a 94-66 victory over Blue Mountain (Miss.) College on Monday night at the FHU Sports Center.

The win was the second in a row for the Lady Lions (15-4, 3-3) who went from No. 6 to No. 15 in the latest NAIA national poll released today. FHU has started its bid to climb back up in the ratings with back-to-back blowout wins.

Freed-Hardeman shot lights-out in the first half, making 24-of-37 shots for 64.9 percent while holding the Lady Toppers to 23.5 percent shooting. FHU cooled off in the second half, but the damage was done by halftime.

Speaking of damage, the Lady Lions did most of theirs in the paint with Jana Cross and Meribeth Boehler each posting 21 points on a combined 16-of-21 shooting. Cross needs just 10 points to reach 2,000 for her career. Boehler posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and also had five assists and three blocks.

Hannah Parsley and Natalie Shumpert added 14 points apiece for FHU. In addition, Shumpert grabbed a career-high eight rebounds. Whitney Johnson had 10 points, seven assists and six steals on the night.

The Lady Lions look to win their third straight game on Thursday when they travel to Lyon (Ark.) College for a 6:00 PM tip-off. The Pipers are coming off a 75-70 overtime upset of Bethel (Tenn.) University in their last game.
