CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Five Austin Peay players scored in double figures and the Governors shot a season-high 64.2 percent from the field in a 99-61 win over the Freed-Hardeman Lions on Monday night.
The game counted as an exhibition for Freed-Hardeman but not for Austin Peay, which competes in NCAA Division I.
Lion coach Jason Shelton used the opportunity to get his reserves a lot of action. Zack Frey, who led FHU with 17 points, was the only Lion starter to play 20 minutes. Twelve players logged at least 11 minutes for Freed-Hardeman, including redshirts Daniel Gravatt and DeAngelo Williams. Both were able to play as it was not an official game for FHU.
Kyle Teichmann was the only other Lion to reach double digits, scoring 11 points. Frey and Teichmann combined to go 11-for-11 from the free throw line and were the only FHU players to get to the charity stripe. APSU went 21-for-30 from the foul line and outrebounded Freed-Hardeman, 39-20.
The Lions return to action on Friday as they travel to play No. 21 Tougaloo (Miss.) College. FHU won the first meeting between the two teams this season, 87-74, in Henderson on Nov. 14.
