KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team will travel to Lee (Tenn.) University for the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Lee enters the match with an overall record of 31-5 and a No. 19 national ranking in the final poll. The Lady Flames won the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) regular season and tournament championships. Last season, Lee lost in the opening round match to Walsh (Ohio), 3-1.
Freed-Hardeman finished the season with a 23-12 record and claimed the TranSouth Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. Freshman outside hitter Diana Silva was named TSAC Player of the Year and the tournament MVP.
The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa, on Dec. 1-5.
