HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 18 Freed-Hardeman Lions started the game hot and never trailed in taking an 87-74 win over No. 21 Tougaloo (Miss.) College on homecoming day at FHU.

The Lions picked up where they left off the last time they were on the floor, making their first four shots and opening the game on a 10-0 run.  Tougaloo cut the lead down to three points at 16-13 with 11:50 to go in the half but FHU used an 8-0 run to build an 11 point lead, then closed the half by outscoring the Bulldogs, 22-6, in the final seven minutes to take a commanding 48-25 lead into the locker room.

Logan Greer's 3-pointer at the 16:55 mark pushed the Freed-Hardeman lead to 29 points (58-29), the largest of the game, and the Lions still led by 26 points with 10:41 to play.  But FHU turned the ball over six times in its next 12 possessions and Tougaloo finished the game by making 10 of its last 19 shots - including five 3-pointers - to ultimately trim the final margin to 87-74.

Freed-Hardeman continued its torrid shooting pace in the first half, going 21-of-34 from the floor to mark the third straight half in which the Lions shot at least 60 percent.  FHU cooled off a bit in the second half but still shot 53.7 percent for the game.

Zack Frey led all scorers with 20 points, with four other Lions - Greer (16), Ken Bingham (13), Jesse Moulton (11), and Kyle Teichmann (10) - scoring in double figures.  Kirtiss Brown dished out a career-high 10 assists.

FHU (4-0) is back in action on Tuesday night, hosting Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College at 6:00 PM.  After that game, the Lions will play six straight games away from home with four of their opponents ranked in the NAIA Top 25.
