MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion soccer team fell just short on the road on Tuesday afternoon against Mid-Continent (Ky.) University, losing 2-0 to the Cougars.

MCU got a goal in each half and outshot the Lions, 19-3.  Only five shots for Mid-Continent were on goal.

Wayne McCarron opened the scoring in the 8th minute after taking a pass from James Anderson and sending it past a diving Alexandre Girodo.  The Cougars' second goal came early in the second half after Gilles Nziengui headed in a corner kick by Dan Chilton in the 51st minute.

Nolan Beede took two of the Lions' three shots.

Freed-Hardeman (7-5, 0-4) returns to action on Thursday with a make-up of its game with Rust (Miss.) College that was rescheduled from Sept. 12.  FHU led that match, 7-0, at halftime when the field lights went out.
