HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion and Lady Lion golf teams began their fall season Thursday with first-round action against Union University in the Ryder Cup at Chickasaw Golf Course.

First-round action featured four-ball sessions in the morning followed by four-some pairings in the afternoon. The Lions were led by the teams of Ben Burnette/Hudson Huber and Lance Moore/Dalton Thomasson. These two teams combined for ten birdies in their morning matches followed by eight birdies in the afternoon sessions.

Highlighting the morning action was Hayden Proffitt's 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the match-up. The Lions won 6.5 points out of a possible 10 points in Thursday's action.

The Lady Lions also found success in the opening sessions, as Brittany Myers/Kayland Boling's 4 and 3 finish in four-ball along with Chloe Kraus and Emily Whitnell's 5&4 win in foursomes highlighted the action. The Lady Lions won three out of a possible 4 points in Thursday's action.

Action concludes Friday morning with individual play. Fourteen matches are scheduled for the final day of the event. The Lions and Lady Lions combined point total of 9.5 puts them five points away from winning the Ryder Cup.
