Lady Lions Fall In Straight-Sets to Bethel

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team suffered their sixth loss of the season Thursday at the hands of in-state foe Bethel University following a hard fought battle at the Brewer Sports Center. (25-21, 26-24, 25-14)

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 0-6 on the season. Bethel improves to 4-7 on the season with the win.

Despite the loss, several players on the Lady Lions roster contributed solid minutes including Freshman Shea Dean, who led FHU in kills with 10. Fellow freshman Claire Walker followed close behind with seven kills while Lindsey Gordon dished out 27 of the 28 assists for the Lady Lions.

Jessyca Watson led Bethel on the attack with 14 kills while Katelyn Van Hooser dished out 13 assists in the win. Giulia Zilotti defended FHU's attack well and accumulated 13 digs. The Wildcats were also impressive at the service line, as they peppered 12 service aces in the match, led by Maria Azevedo, who had six aces on the night.

The Wildcats accumulated 34 kills and hit .170 in the match compared to the Lady Lions who hit just .131 in the match with 32 kills and 19 attack errors.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Tuesday, September 12th, as they make the short trip to Jackson, Tenn. to take on Lane College. Match time is set for 5:30 PM.
