Lady Lions Sweep AMC Player Of The Week Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Following an impressive week, which saw the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team pick up two shutout wins, the American Midwest Conference has named FHU Midfielder Nina Carolissen the Offensive Player of the Week while Goalkeeper Erin Douglas took home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Carolissen had an impressive opening week of the season, as she put up a hat trick on Tuesday, August 29th on the road at Brescia University in the 9-0 victory for the Lady Lions. For the game, Carolissen attempted nine shots and seven shots on goal while dishing out one assist.

She followed up her impressive performance on Tuesday with another stellar outing on Saturday against Bryan College, where she fired in one of FHU's two goals in the match to bring her goal total to four for the week. In that match, Carolissen also attempted eight shots and five shots on goal, as she kept Bryan College on their toes the entire match. The Player of the Week nod for Carolissen marks the third of her career with the Lady Lions.

Erin Douglas also had an impressive opening week in goal for the Lady Lions, as she contributed to two shutouts, which included a career-high seven saves in Saturday's match-up against Bryan College. For the week, Douglas combined for 10 saves and averaged 3.33 saves per start. She also compiled a 1.33 Goals Against Average for the week on the way to her first Player of the Week nod of her career.

Alexandra Lair, Missouri Baptist: Stopped 10 shots in two games, including eight vs. No. 4 Benedictine (Kan.).

Rebecca Sturgess, William Woods (Mo.): Recorded 10 saves in three games for the Lady Owls.

Maeghan Ely, Stephens (Mo.): Had 13 saves in a 1-1 week for the Stars.

Carlee Spears, Williams Baptist (Ark.): Recorded a hat trick vs. Ecclesia College. Added the Eagles only goal against Jamestown (N.D.)

Shelby Scanlan, William Woods (Mo.): Tallied three goals for six points in a 2-1 week for the Lady Owls.
