OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Freed-Hardeman soccer teams concluded their road trip Tuesday evening at Brescia (Ky.) University and with it came a 4-3 loss in overtime for the Lions followed by a 9-0 blowout win for the Lady Lions.

The men's soccer team got things started first in the 6:00 PM match-up and it would take overtime before things were decided. Both teams were evenly matched on the attack, as FHU and Brescia each found the back of the net once in the first frame and two more times in the second half.

The Lions (0-2) attempted 14 shots on goal in the match compared to the Bearcats (1-1) who attempted 15 shots on goal. Senior George Achard led the Lions on the attack with one goal and six shots on goal while Andrij Sawczuk chipped in one goal of his own for his second of the season. Daniel Peinado rounded out the scoring for the Lions with one goal and four shots on goal in the match.

The Lions kept pace with Brescia the entire match, as things were evened up at three apiece at the end of regulation. However, the overtime period belonged to the Bearcats, as Fabian Torres found the back of the net off an assist by Jean Laurent and Ricardo Majano to give Brescia the 4-3 victory. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-2 on the season.

Meanwhile on the women's side it was a much different story, as the Lady Lions fired in nine goals and kept Brescia scoreless to deliver a 9-0 pounding.

Nina Carolissen led the Lady Lions on the attack with a hat trick, as she fired in seven shots on goal and three goals in the match. Taylor Woods also found success on the attack, as she chipped in two goals of her own while McCall Decker, Abigail Morales, Samantha Clymer and Abby Redferrin each contributed one goal to round out the scoring for the Lady Lions.

With the win, the Lady Lions even up their season record at 1-1.
