HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team added another player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the recent signing of James Davis of Mobile, Ala.

Davis, a 6-3 junior guard, transfers to FHU this season from University of Mobile, where he averaged nine points and 3.5 rebounds per game during his time with the Rams.

Jim Sanderson, head coach for the Lion basketball program, said Davis will be a key contribution to the roster for the upcoming season as a result of his experience at the college level.

"We are excited to announce the signing of junior wing player James Davis," said Sanderson. "I really believe James can be a solid on ball defender and rebounder that will bring great energy to our team on the floor. His past college experience will be very valuable to our program."

Davis is the son of Solomon and Kualnaee Davis of Mobile, Ala. He is the 13th player added to the Lions roster for the upcoming season. He joins Daniel Meis (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis Nighthawks), Kortland Martin (Humboldt, Tenn./Humboldt High School), Jonathan Leach (Houston, Texas/Texas Christian), Latrell Poitier (Freeport, Bahamas/St. Petersburg College), Shamir Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas/Roane State Community College), Jahmeel Watts (Hudson, N.C./Caldwell Community College), Jacob DeLauri (Austin, Texas/Rouse High School), Charles Boyle (Rossville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy), Tyler Johnson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills High School), Grant Burns (Henderson, Tenn./Chester County High School), Jalen Thompson (Memphis, Tenn./Salem International University) and Simon Fransis (Stockholm, Sweden/De Anza College) in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lion basketball program.
