HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team recently added a local player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the signing of Grant Burns of Henderson, Tenn.

Burns, a 6-2 guard, prepped at Chester County High School, where he averaged an impressive 11 points per game while pulling down four rebounds per game throughout his career with the Eagles.

Jim Sanderson, head coach for the Lion basketball program, said Burns will be a great addition to the 2017-18 roster as a result of his work ethic and energy.

"We are excited to add Grant to our 2017-18 signing class," Sanderson said. "He will bring a high level of energy and knowledge of the game to our roster. He is a solid outside shooter that loves to compete at a high level. We are grateful to have a hometown student athlete like Grant on our  roster for the 2017-18 season."

Burns is the son of Dane and Carrie Burns of Henderson, Tenn. He is the tenth player added to the Lions roster for the upcoming season. He joins Daniel Meis (Memphis, Tenn. /Memphis Nighthawks), Kortland Martin (Humboldt, Tenn. /Humboldt High School), Jonathan Leach (Houston, Texas/Texas Christian) Latrell Poitier (Freeport, Bahamas/St. Petersburg College), Shamir Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas/Roane State Community College), Jahmeel Watts (Hudson, N.C./Caldwell Community College), Jacob DeLauri (Austin, Texas/Rouse High School), Charles Boyle (Rossville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) and Tyler Johnson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills High School) in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lion basketball program.
