Lions notch seventh straight; down Crowley's Ridge 104-56

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team picked up their 16th win of the season Tuesday night as they cruised to a convincing 104-56 victory over Crowley's Ridge College at the Brewer Sports Center.

Fitzgerald Hopkins led the way for Freed-Hardeman, as he poured in 20 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc. Four other Lion players reached double digits in the match-up including Joseph Williams who put up 12 points and Mika Nuolivirta who chipped in 11. Marcus Baldwin and Ben Brown rounded out the scoring for FHU, as each contributed 10 points in the win.

FHU (16-6) shot an impressive 58 percent from the field in the game compared to Crowley's Ridge College (5-17), who shot just 30 percent from the field and 23 percent from behind the arc. FHU made things difficult on the Pioneers throughout the game as they forced 16 turnovers and snagged six steals. 

Shaquille Culbreath led Crowley's Ridge on the offensive end with 13 points. Devin Graves and Wyatt Summers also reached double digits in the match-up for the Pioneers, as Graves put up 11 points while Summers chipped in 10.

The Lions dominated the offensive possession from the opening tip as they out-shot Crowley's Ridge 57-30 in the first half, which included limiting the Pioneers to just 11-for-35 shooting from the field and 2-for-12 shooting from behind the arc.

FHU would continue to pile it on in the second half as they led by as many as 50 at the 104-54 mark on their way to a 104-56 victory. With the win, the Lions improve to 16-6 on the season. The Pioneers fall to 5-17 on the season with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lions return to conference play Saturday, February 4th, as they make the trip to Parkville, Mo. to face Park University. The Lady Lions kick things off first at 1:00 PM followed by the men's game at 3:00 PM.
