DECATUR, Ala. - Tarrah Tucker added a final first to a long list of firsts in her career at Freed-Hardeman.

The senior pitcher from Lyles, Tenn., became FHU's first softball All-American, being named to the second team when the teams where announced on the final day of the 2009 NAIA National Softball Tournament.

Tucker, who was also named the TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Year, was among the top 10 in the nation in several statistical categories including strikeouts per inning, opponent batting average, and winning percentage.  She also finished her career with claim to 13 school pitching records.

She was one of nine pitchers named to the first and second teams and the only player from the TranSouth to receive the honor.

Tucker finished her senior season with a career-best 0.93 ERA and a record of 19-3.  She struck out 207 batters in 136 innings while opponents batted just .128 against her.
