HENDERSON, Tenn. - Tarrah Tucker threw complete games in both ends of a double-header as the No. 20 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) Lady Lions swept visiting Mid-Continent (Ky.), 4-0 and 10-1.

FHU improves to 17-5 on the season and 5-1 in conference play, while Mid-Continent drops to 8-25 overall and 0-8 in the TranSouth Conference.

Tucker was dominant in game one allowing just one hit while striking out 12. Hayli Burgess got the Lady Cougars' only hit of the game, a double in the second inning. Tucker only allowed two more base runners in the game, both after being hit by pitches, and neither advanced past first base.

Offensively, FHU rapped out eight hits but stranded nine runners in the game. Britney Caldwell drove in the game's first run in the bottom half of the third on a groundout to third that brought in Jill Brock. One inning later, Traci Gibbons' sacrifice fly brought in Brittany Yates to make it a 2-0 game.

The Lady Lions picked up two more insurance runs in the sixth on a double from Jill Brock followed by a single by Brittany Bradford, and Tucker followed by retiring the side in the seventh to post her third consecutive shutout.

Tucker's scoreless streak extended to 28 innings before coming to an end in game two. After MCU loaded the bases on two hit batters and a walk, Nicki Dewitt delivered a two-out single to bring in the team's first run of the day.

FHU, which scored a run in the first inning, exploded for six runs in the second as the Lady Lions batted around. Gibbons, Brock, Bradford, Caldwell, and Yates all had run-scoring hits in the inning. Freed-Hardeman added two more in the third and another in the fourth, and Tucker (12-1) shut down Mid-Continent the rest of the way as the game ended on the run rule in the fifth inning.

Every Lady Lion starter recorded at least one hit in the double-header. Bradford, Yates, and Brittany Steverson each had three hits while Bradford and Caldwell drove in three runs apiece.

Freed-Hardeman returns to the field on Thursday at Lambuth (Tenn.) for a double-header beginning at 5:00 PM.
