HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team added to its 2009-10 recruiting class with the signing of Summer Waggoner of Chapel Hill, Tenn.
Waggoner, a 5-foot-10 forward, prepped at Forrest HS where she was a three-year starter for the Lady Rockets. As a freshman, she was one of the top options off the bench for a team that won the TSSAA Class A state championship. Forrest advanced to the state tournament in each of Waggoner's four years with the program. She averaged 10.4 points per game as a senior.
While at Forrest, Waggoner was an all-district, all-region, and all-state tournament selection. She also played on the school's softball team, which won the Class A state championship in 2008, and qualified for the state meet in cross country.
Waggoner excelled off the floor as well, ranking eighth in her class and being involved in many extracurricular activities such as Girls State, student advisory council, FCA, yearbook, and student council. She was the school's student body president during her senior year.
"Summer has a great work ethic and comes from a very good high school program," said Freed-Hardeman head coach Dale Neal. "She is very athletic and has a good upside. She will be a good fit for our program."
Waggoner joins Natalie Shumpert (Paducah, Ky.), Brittney Williams (Jackson, Tenn.), and Leslie Morgan (Philadelphia, Miss.) in the Lady Lions' 2009-10 recruiting class.
