JACKSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team swept its third consecutive double-header, this time taking a pair from Union (Tenn.) on Monday, 4-0 and 6-1.
FHU jumped ahead early in both games by scoring two runs on a two-out single by Brittany Yates in the first game, then using three infield singles to plate four runs to start off the second game.
Tarrah Tucker (4-2) threw her second shutout of the season, allowing just one hit and striking out seven. Britney Caldwell added a two-run, two-out single in the top of the seventh for insurance.
Caldwell stepped into the circle in the second game, holding the Lady Bulldogs to one run while scattering seven hits. FHU, on the other hand, pounded out 12 hits in the game with Brittany Bradford going 3-for-5 to lead the way. Carmen Gulley, Camille Cunningham, and Brittany Steverson each had two hits while Yates followed a 2-for-4 performance in the first game with a 2-for-3 outing in game two.
Freed-Hardeman improves to 7-3 on the season.
