KANSAS CITY - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions held their spot as the top-ranked team in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Poll, but garnered one more first-place vote than last week to be the unanimous selection in the fifth poll of the season.
FHU (18-2) went 3-0 on the week to extend its winning streak to 18 games after having two wins erased via forfeit after an error surfaced in required paperwork. The 18-game winning streak is the second-longest in school history and is nearing the record of 23 games set during the 2005-06 season.
The top four teams remained the same as No. 2 Oklahoma City, No. 3 Union (Tenn.) and No. 4 Westmont (Calif.) all held their spots following perfect weeks. Lee (Tenn.) moved up to No. 5, replacing Langston (Okla.) which dropped to No. 8 after its first loss of the season.
Freed-Hardeman and Union are the only two TranSouth Conference schools in the top 25. Lyon (Ark.), which was ranked No. 25 two weeks ago, stayed just outside of this week's rankings.
The Lady Lions travel to Lyon on Thursday before hosting Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday.
