JACKSON, Tenn. - Cold shooting again plagued the No. 3 Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions in a 78-71 loss to No. 6 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University on Friday night in the Rotary Classic at Union University.

After leading 40-38 at halftime and extending the lead to 53-47 with 15:05 left in the game, the Lady  Lions' shooting touch went south.  Over the next 14 minutes, FHU shot just 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from the field.  APU took advantage, going on a 10-0 run to take a 57-53 lead with 12:28 to play.

Freed-Hardeman would never be able to regain the lead from that point forward.

FHU was led by Jana Cross with 19 points.  Meribeth Boehler added a career-high 17 points while Nicole Duncan came off the bench to add 12 points, also a career-best.

Azusa's Kristi Hala'ufia led all scorers with 24 points as the Lady Cougars committed just nine turnovers on the evening.

The Lady Lions (4-2) look to finish the Rotary Classic off with a win tomorrow evening as they play No. 24 Loyola (La.) University at 5:00 PM.
